Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb halibut filet
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 lemon (zested then cut into wedges)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup of desired.
  2. Place halibut filet on the lined baking sheet skin side down, season fish with salt and pepper.
  3. Melt the butter with minced garlic, garlic powder, lemon zest, and salt, stirring until butter is melted.
  4. Brush melted garlic butter mixture onto halibut evenly.
  5. Bake at 425 degrees F for 9-15 minutes, until an instant read thermometer shows internal temperature is 145 degrees F. Thicker cuts will take longer, thinner cuts will cook faster. General cooking time is about 10 minutes per 1 inch of thickness. Fish will flake easily with a fork when done and will no longer look translucent, but using a thermometer is the only way to be sure the fish is cooked correctly.
