Ingredients
- 1.5 lb halibut filet
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 lemon (zested then cut into wedges)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup of desired.
- Place halibut filet on the lined baking sheet skin side down, season fish with salt and pepper.
- Melt the butter with minced garlic, garlic powder, lemon zest, and salt, stirring until butter is melted.
- Brush melted garlic butter mixture onto halibut evenly.
- Bake at 425 degrees F for 9-15 minutes, until an instant read thermometer shows internal temperature is 145 degrees F. Thicker cuts will take longer, thinner cuts will cook faster. General cooking time is about 10 minutes per 1 inch of thickness. Fish will flake easily with a fork when done and will no longer look translucent, but using a thermometer is the only way to be sure the fish is cooked correctly.
